COMMUNITY
ENGAGEMENT

highfive
It’s one thing for us to give back; it’s another when we empower our associates around the world to make a difference as well. The highfive program was created to do just that: helping others reach new heights, together. highfive provides associates the opportunity and tools to initiate and get involved in individual and corporate volunteer work.

-

Bank of Volunteering Hours: Fifteen volunteering hours are offered to each full-time permanent head office and international office associate to encourage participation in a cause dear to their own hearts (of their choosing!).

-

highfive Platform: This online platform gives associates the opportunity to create, view, and sign up for volunteering activities planned by peers and the company, all while tracking our social impact.

-

Ambassador Network: Our highfive ambassadors are the link between highfive and every department in the company. They communicate about highfive initiatives while encouraging engagement and generating a culture of giving back.

-

highfive Recognition: Highlighting the actions, engagement and the inspiring attitude of associates who have generously given back to their community in the past year, donations are made to the winners’ charities of choice.

Throughout the year, we organize several activities that allow our associates to have an impact in the communities we live and work in.

COMMUNITY DAY
The goal of Community Day is to bring our people together twice a year to give back to the community through volunteer work at several different organizations. It started in Montreal with our head office associates and soon after, our international offices (both in China and Switzerland) also began to take part. Today, hundreds of associates participate in a variety of activities that bring our purpose to life, including supporting local shelters and homeless youth, training with athletes with autism and intellectual disabilities, and preparing food for those in need.

THE PURPOSE RIDE
In 2019 we launched the Purpose Ride by ALDO with the aim to bring our purpose to life by uniting our people in support of a cause that has a meaningful impact in our community. The goal? Raise funds for a cause close to our hearts and gather a collective of ALDO Group riders and volunteers for an epic two-day ride from Montreal to the Eastern Townships and back. Learn more about the ride here.

BACK TO SCHOOL
Every year, we donate shoes to the Welcome Hall Mission's Back-to-School with Heads Held High event. The organization provides young, underprivileged Montrealers with brand new school supplies, clothing and footwear, helping them start the new school year right.

BASKETS OF HOPE
Our annual Baskets of Hope program helps those in need by collecting donations of non-perishable food items, clothing, hygiene products and toys at our head office. Donations are then sorted at our annual Giving Tuesday event and delivered to local organizations in the Montreal area, including shelters and food banks.

GIVING TUESDAY
Taking place on the Tuesday after Black Friday, #GivingTuesday is a global movement focused on giving and volunteering. We organize a special evening that is all about making the holiday season special for those in need. Associates gather to sort donations and prepare gift boxes and backpacks filled with non-perishable food, sanitary products, and warm winter accessories for homeless youth and multiple shelters.

BOUTS D’CHOU
Our head office is in Ville St-Laurent, an area that is home to many families that have recently relocated to Canada from around the world. And every December, we host an unforgettable holiday celebration for these local families in need. Our multifunction room is transformed into a magical fantasyland and backpacks are handed out along with winter boots and other accessories that ensure the children are better equipped for winter in Montreal.
